More Vacancies Than a Run-down Hotel

Posted by redsatellite on March 13, 2009

Finding ANYBODY to fill Obama’s administration has been quite an exercise. Whether it be a cabinet position, an opening under Tim Geithner, a justice job… name it, Obama can’t fill them.

-President Obama has more vacant Cabinet positions at this point in his term than any other recent president.

-H. Rodgin Cohen, chairman of the New York law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, has withdrawn his name from consideration for deputy Treasury secretary, becoming the fourth pick for a prominent Treasury Department post to pull out in recent weeks.

Filling Attorney Jobs a Challenge
Obama hasn’t made clear how he will pick U.S. prosecutors, a group that shapes law enforcement.

For a president who is carrying hope and change around like baskets of frankincense and myrrh, this must be hitting him like Chris Brown in a room full of passive women. His administration has suffered more withdrawals than a clinic full of recovering crack addicts.

When a hotel can’t fill their rooms, they usually start offering steep discounts and free bonus points on their reward cards. Unfortunately, Obama can’t do that. So, I’m thinking he needs to try other effective means. Like:

Let candidates not pay their taxes. Um…wait….they already don’t.
Let candidates get kickbacks after awarding lucrative contracts. Uh…wait…they already do.
Let candidates expect free limousine service. Err…wait…they already do.

Well…there you go. That’s why Mr. O is having such trouble filling all these positions...not enough INCENTIVES!

Sorry Caesar Obama, hope and change isn’t enough.

Death By a Thousand Cuts

Posted by redsatellite on March 10, 2009

I think old Ling Chi and the Chinese were on to something. These days, every liberal rag in America is suffering from this slow form of torture. But then again, it couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of pandering invertebrates. Two days ago, the New York Times had to sell their building to stay afloat. Yesterday, the leftwing proselytizers over at the San Francisco Chronicle had to make a deal with the devil (err…I mean union) to keep their newspaper alive.

San Francisco Chronicle has reached a tentative agreement with its largest union on contract concessions, a key step in keeping the newspaper from being sold or closed, officials announced Monday.

The Chronicle told employees last month that the paper was at risk if it did not stop bleeding millions. Its closing would leave San Francisco as the first U.S. metropolis without a major daily paper.

Staff members at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer received similar news recently, with Hearst ownership saying the paper would be closed or turned into an Internet-only publication.

Similar financial pressures caused the
Detroit Free Press and Detroit News to announce in December that they would become the first major metropolitan newspapers in the United States to end daily home delivery. The owners of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News filed for bankruptcy last month because of a huge debt load.

Secular progressive newspapers are hemorrhaging money. And one by one…these leftwing diatribes are going down. As far as I’m concerned, it couldn’t happen….soon enough. Today, they’re only rearranging the deck chairs on their ship:

The Titanic.

Defending the Indefensible…But Wait- There’s More!

Posted by redsatellite on March 9, 2009

If you were with us in our last episode…women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive. Well, this just in, they’re also not allowed to have a man in their house…unless he’s related. No matter how old he is…and no matter how old SHE IS.

A Saudi Arabian court has sentenced a 75-year-old Syrian woman to 40 lashes, four months imprisonment and deportation from the kingdom for having two unrelated men in her house, according to local media reports.

According to the Saudi daily newspaper Al-Watan, troubles for the woman, Khamisa Mohammed Sawadi, began last year when a member of the religious police entered her house in the city of Al-Chamli and found her with two unrelated men, “Fahd” and “Hadian.”

The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, feared by many Saudis, is made up of several thousand religious policemen charged with duties such as enforcing dress codes, prayer times and segregation of the sexes. Under Saudi law, women face many restrictions, including a strict dress code and a ban on driving. Women also need to have a man’s permission to travel.

40 lashes!…which if applied correctly, will likely KILL HER. No word yet, on whether Annette Bening or Nancy Pelosi have flown to Mecca to visit the 75 year old woman. Hmmmm, I wonder if Annette or Nancy would ask their husbands…for permission.

Somehow…I doubt it.

Voting Never Accomplishes Anything

Posted by redsatellite on March 5, 2009

When it comes to gay marriage….that is EXACTLY the case. Every time Americans refute gay marriage (currently…that would be 100% of the time), advocates find a liberal appellate court to overturn it. And so it goes in California…again….ad infinitum.

Gay marriage advocates on Thursday will ask the California Supreme Court to overturn a second voter-approved same-sex marriage ban, in a cultural battle that has divided the United States.

Social conservatives and liberals both consider California a trend-setter that can shape the same-sex marriage agenda, even though an overwhelming majority of U.S. states have laws stopping gay couples from wedding.

Overwhelming majority? It would be UNANAMOUS if it weren’t for judges and state legislatures invoking their form of social engineering. Liberals have lost every single time when it comes to a a vote. (pssssssst….’every’ means NOT ONE.)

The same court last year overturned a voter-approved law banning gay marriage, opening the way to gay couples wedding in the most populous state.

Liberals only abide by the popular vote…when they’re successful. (see: Barack Obama)

Buying Into Liberal BS

Posted by redsatellite on March 3, 2009

The latest ‘dust up’ between RNC leader Michael Steele and conservative Rush Limbaugh is an a posteriori example of what happens when conservatives speak to the MSM and liberal pundits. Sure enough, every so often, they buy into the liberal b.s. in their need to be liked.

Why? I know it’s human nature to want that…to want to be liked. But, with liberals, you are not just shooting yourself in the foot….you’re shooting yourself in the head.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says he has reached out to Rush Limbaugh to tell him he meant no offense when he referred to the popular conservative radio host as an “entertainer” whose show can be “incendiary.”

“My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh,” Steele said in a telephone interview. “I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. … There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.”

The dust-up comes at a time when top Democrats are trying to make Limbaugh the face of the Republican Party, in part by using ads funded by labor. Americans United for Change sent a fund-raising e-mail Monday that begins: “The Republican Party has turned into the Rush Limbaugh Party.”

Steele was being hammered on CNN by another black pundit, and Michael made the mistake of placating. Yep…placating. That’s what you do…when you want to deflect the tone of an argument or debate- in a lame attempt to soften the exchange. Unfortunately….the placating…isn’t placating…it’s CAPITULATING.

And for conservatives…..that is a cardinal sin. Yes. What you’ve done….whether you realize it or not is- you’ve bought into the bs. And that’s what Michael did. You knew it would happen eventually….you just knew. Michael Steele along with Bobby Jindal, are the new minority faces of the Republican Party.

And the liberal media is all over them, like Al Gore at a buffet. The leftwing loons and media moonbats will try to marginalize, they will attack– and they will vilify. So QUIT with trying to be liked. The only common ground they have with us is- they’re citizens of the United States. That’s it- nothing more! So a word of advice to Steele and Jindal:

Pull up the drawbridge…hide the women and children…man the fortress walls…and keep your sentries on the look out.

This just in….Iran has enough uranium now to make a nuclear bomb. (You know…a destructive device- that kills millions of people?) Just thought I would bring it to your attention.

Iran has built up a stockpile of enough enriched uranium for one nuclear bomb, United Nations officials acknowledged on Thursday.

In a development that comes as the Obama administration is drawing up its policy on negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear programme, UN officials said Iran had produced more nuclear material than previously thought.

I love that last line “….more nuclear material than previously thought.” Um…let me point out the obvious: The UN has a history of not thinking. So the fact that Iran has a nuclear capability, comes as no surprise…and that the UN is brain-dead is TRULY no surprise.

The new figures come in a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN’s nuclear watchdog, released on Thursday. This revealed that Iran’s production of low enriched uranium had previously been underestimated.

The UN couldn’t estimate the number of cards in a game of Three-card Monte. My advice?….. Start building a shelter.

Liberals and Ethics

Posted by redsatellite on February 19, 2009

Are mutually exclusive. Always have been….and what’s worse, now that their Bush-bashing days are over, the sniping vacuous liberals and their moral relativism and equivocation…has FINALLY come under the national spotlight– joining the conspicuous glare with Obama. Even the MSM can’t cover their hideous assault on moral absolutes.

The Obama administration and the new Congress are quickly handing over to Republicans the same “culture of corruption” issue that Democrats used so effectively against the GOP before coming to power.

Freshman Sen. Roland Burris, D-Ill., is only the latest embarrassment.

The political mess for the Democratic Party, however, isn’t Burris’ conduct alone; it’s the pattern that has developed so quickly over the past few months.

-The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., is the subject of a House ethics investigation. It’s partly focused on his fundraising practices for a college center in his name, his ownership financing of a resort property in the Dominican Republic and his financial disclosure reports.

-Federal agents raided two Pennsylvania defense contractors that were provided millions of dollars in federal funding by Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., chairman of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee.

Blagojevich was arrested Dec. 9 on federal charges, including allegations he schemed to sell the Senate seat to the highest bidder.

Tom Daschle, the former Senate majority leader from South Dakota, abandoned his bid to become health and human services secretary and the administration’s point man on reforming health care; and Nancy Killefer stepped down from a newly created position charged with eliminating inefficient government programs.

-Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was confirmed after revealing he had tax troubles.

-Obama’s initial choice for commerce secretary, Bill Richardson, stepped aside due to a grand jury investigation into a state contract awarded to his political donors.

I mean c’mon….is this an absolute HOOT? Heck, if ‘the list’ gets any longer- Guinness World Records will be calling them. I haven’t seen this many names in one place…

…since I picked up a Los Angeles PHONEBOOK!

The Liberal Democrats’ Trojan Horse

Posted by redsatellite on February 18, 2009

And that Trojan Horse is Lindsey Graham. Yes…I know- REPUBLICAN Lindsey Graham. But what can you do….he’s now moved way past being a RINO like Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Chuck Hagel and John McCain. In fact, he wouldn’t even qualify as a Blue Dog Democrat!

Long regarded in the US as a folly of Europeans, nationalisation is gaining rapid acceptance among Washington opinion-formers – and not just with Alan Greenspan, former Federal Reserve chairman. Perhaps stranger still, many of those talking about nationalising banks are Republicans.

Lindsey Graham, the Republican senator for South Carolina, says that many of his colleagues, including John McCain, the defeated presidential candidate, agree with his view that nationalisation of some banks should be “on the table”.
And the GOP wonders why they lost in 2006 and 2008. No John, no Lindsey nationalizing should never be on the table- you bumbling dullards.

Mr Graham says that people across the US accept his argument that it is untenable to keep throwing good money after bad into institutions such as Citigroup and Bank of America, which now have a lower net value than the amount of public funds they have received.

“You should not get caught up on a word [nationalisation],” he told the Financial Times in an interview. “I would argue that we cannot be ideologically a little bit pregnant. It doesn’t matter what you call it, but we can’t keep on funding these zombie banks [without gaining public control]. That’s what the Japanese did.”
So DON’T FUND THEM AT ALL ….you stupid twit! Let them fail. Not every bank is in trouble- there are plenty of regional banks and small community banks who are doing just fine.

Let the FDIC hand out the insured money (up to $100,000) to all their loyal customers – and then close the damn door. And keep closing the doors until every bank that can’t hold their own…is out of business. Banks like Bank of America and Wells Fargo…can sell every asset they have, liquidate everything they own of value to pay back the government and/or industry creditors and then chain-shut the doors. Problem solved.

Period…end of socialist story.

Failure to Think

Posted by redsatellite on February 13, 2009

Paul Krugman, my personal pinata, is at it again. He’s weighed in on the Pork-o-licious stimulus package. Yah, and of course, everytime he opens his mouth….his brain leaves the building.

Failure to Rise

By any normal political standards, this week’s Congressional agreement on an economic stimulus package was a great victory for President Obama. He got more or less what he asked for: almost $800 billion to rescue the economy, with most of the money allocated to spending rather than tax cuts. Break out the Champagne!

Or maybe not.

One might have expected Republicans to act at least slightly chastened in these early days of the Obama administration, given both their drubbing in the last two elections and the economic debacle of the past eight years.

But it’s now clear that the party’s commitment to deep voodoo- enforced, in part, by pressure groups that stand ready to run primary challengers against heretics — is as strong as ever. In both the House and the Senate, the vast majority of Republicans rallied behind the idea that the appropriate response to the abject failure of the Bush administration’s tax cuts is more Bush-style tax cuts.

Those BAD bad Republicans! How dare they disagree…with The One. Emperor Obama. The only question I have is…if they got such a ‘drubbing’ in the last 2 elections, why are they not signing on to the package? Could it be, that even moderate Republicans are put off by this spending bill?

Oh, but it gets better.

When’s the last time you heard a Nobel Prize winner in Economics whine about a commitment to deep voodoo‘?

Commitment to VOODOO? Huh?

That always makes for compelling debate. I guess I’ve been checkmated. I mean, afterall, the Republican party is using voodoo! Case closed. There’s your reason why there’s been a ‘Failure to Rise’. It’s hard to argue your point when someone’s using voodoo.

And the rhetorical response of conservatives to the stimulus plan — which will, it’s worth bearing in mind, cost substantially less than either the Bush administration’s $2 trillion in tax cuts or the $1 trillion and counting spent in Iraq — has bordered on the deranged.

I love these numbers….he’s tossing around a trillion here and two trillion there, like pizzas at Papa Johns. Rather than push back on these grossly inflated numbers, I’ll address the actual subject matter.

Tax cuts? Millions of Americans enjoyed the largesse. Whether through small business loans, home loans, tax credits, or an actual tax rebate. I spent my $2000 rebate on improving my home. Yep, hired a few landscapers.

Iraq? The increased military spending, kept thousands and thousands in the defense industry employed. Companies like General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, BAE Systems, Honeywell, United Technology Corp, ITT Industries, L-3 Communications, and Rockwell Collins (to name just a BUNCH) have built military equipment or provided services.

I use to think Paul Krugman was an idiot. Now I’m convinced, after much research and many hours reading his tripe, Krugman is a….

The Only Liberal With Half a Brain

Posted by redsatellite on February 11, 2009

Camille Paglia. Yep….I read her over at Yesterday, I excoriated a bunch of moonbats….but today- I thought it only fair to applaud one I do like. Of course, I’m using the word ‘like’…in the broadest of terms. In her column, she brings up the Fairness Doctrine…and to my PLEASANT surprise, this is what she says:

Speaking of talk radio (which I listen to constantly), I remain incredulous that any Democrat who professes liberal values would give a moment’s thought to supporting a return of the Fairness Doctrine to muzzle conservative shows. (My latest manifesto on this subject appeared in my last column.)

The failure of liberals to master the vibrant medium of talk radio remains puzzling. To reach the radio audience (whether the topic is sports, politics or car repair), a host must have populist instincts and use the robust common voice. Too many Democrats have become arrogant elitists, speaking down in snide, condescending tones toward tradition-minded middle Americans whom they stereotype as rubes and buffoons.

But the bottom line is that government surveillance of the ideological content of talk radio is a shocking first step toward totalitarianism.

Camille gets it.
