A Purpose Driven Inauguration

Posted by redsatellite on December 18, 2008

You kind of knew this was going to happen. What began with lofty promises of Hope and Change…of Love and Peace and Sunshine and Moonbeams…are ever so slowly…devolving. Yep. The liberal elite and the hard left were nothing short of EXUBERANT when Barack Obama won. Why…you’ve never heard such praise and celebration..such joy and adulation.

You would’ve thought we cured cancer.

So when Barack won, it was payback time. Payback for their undying passion and support. And they instantly expected – ney DEMANDED– that Obama start surrounding himself with loon after progressive loon. A White House full of nothing but liberal doves and social progressives.

But then?

Then Barack picked Hillary. Then he kept Robert Gates. And now? Now he’s picked conservative pastor and best selling author Rick Warren to lead the invocation at his own inauguration. And…
the liberals? Liberals do what they do best, they come UNHINGED.

Prominent liberal groups and gay rights proponents criticized President-elect Barack Obama Wednesday for choosing evangelical pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at the presidential inauguration next month.

Warren, one of the most influential religious leaders in the nation, has championed issues such as a reduction of global poverty, human rights abuses and the AIDS epidemic.

But the founder of the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, has also adhered to socially conservative stances- including his opposition to gay marriage and abortion rights that puts him at odds with many in the Democratic Party, especially the party’s most liberal wing.

Ruh roh. Is the honeymoon over?

People for the American Way President Kathryn Kolbert told CNN she is “deeply disappointed” with the choice of Warren and said the powerful platform at the inauguration should instead have been given to someone who has “consistent mainstream American values.”

“There is no substantive difference between
Rick Warren and James Dobson,” Kolbert said. “The only difference is tone. His tone is moderate, but his ideas are radical.”

Hmmm…we seem to have a SERIOUS disconnect. FYI Ms. Kolbert- ‘Mainstream American values’ don’t include gay marriage and gay issues. Never have. Check out the voting results of every single state that has put gay marriage on an election ballot.

So who’s the ‘radical’ here Kimosabe?
