So another South American country embraces more leftwing politics…uh….and my response is- so what. But of course, Equador’s President Correa and his recent success falls nicely inline with the problems on Wall Street….so I know…let’s somehow….tie this all together!
After being lectured for 20 years about the superiority of the free market, officials in Latin America see no small irony in the effort to bail out the U.S. banking system. Latin America has several reasons to worry about the U.S. economic meltdown. Ecuador, for instance, fears the possible loss of duty-free export markets for its coffee, fish and flowers.
People here are also worried the crisis will cut into the $2 billion in annual remittances sent home by Ecuadoreans living in the U.S., and wonder whether the nation’s use of the dollar as the national currency, a move made in 2000 to cure inflation, still makes sense.
But there is an undercurrent of schadenfreude at America’s pain. Commentator Boaventura de Sousa Santos scolded the United States for its “ironhanded evangelizing” that free markets, privatization and deregulation were innately more virtuous than “corrupt and efficient” state-run economies. “Millions were thrown into unemployment, lost their land and labor rights and had to emigrate,” the Portuguese-born Santos wrote in an article widely distributed over the Internet.
The comments resonated in Ecuador, a country where 15% of the population has fled to the U.S. and Europe looking for better lives. Others are resentful of “neoliberal” doctrine, a common term in the region for free-market capitalism, for having forced central banks to eliminate cultural programs such as restoration of historic monuments. In an interview, Quito-based historian and publisher Abdon Ubidia said Americans now can appreciate why many South American countries have swung to the left- they saw the future and weren’t buying it.
‘They saw the future and weren’t buying it’?
If you’re like me… when you read this kind of insanity…you go…huh? WTF? Let me see if I’ve got this figured out….you love capitalism and the free markets as long as it BENEFITS YOU. And if it doesn’t…well heck….we told you so. And don’t you love it when they coin a term like ‘neoliberal’ to describe a CONSERVATIVE idealism?
Venezuela, Bolivia and now Equador…..that’s quite a Sandinista Trifecta.

It’s done. At least for now. Nancy Pelosi over-reached in her partisan tirade on the House floor, and the American people actually took a stand. When people take a stand, Republicans, and some Democrats, develop enough of a backbone to do the right thing.
Despite rumors to the contrary, the reports of America’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.

That’s the official title of the $700 billion dollar bailout. If our culture believes that….40 is the new 30….then I guess socialism- is the NEW free enterprise.

I went to a garden party to reminisce with my old friends
A chance to share old memories and play our songs again
When I got to the garden party, they all knew my name
No one recognized me, I didn’t look the same
But it’s all right now,
I learned my lesson well.
You see, ya can’t please everyone,
so ya got to please yourself
Hmmm….seems Barack Obama has some ‘splainin’ to do. Yah….seems $100,000 has disappeared:
A $100,000 state grant for a botanic garden in Englewood that then-state Sen. Barack Obama awarded in 2001 to a group headed by a onetime campaign volunteer is now under investigation by the Illinois attorney general amid new questions, prompted by Chicago Sun-Times reports, about whether the money might have been misspent.
The garden was never built. And now state records obtained by the Sun-Times show $65,000 of the grant money went to the wife of Kenny B. Smith, the Obama 2000 congressional campaign volunteer who heads the Chicago Better Housing Association, which was in charge of the project for the blighted South Side neighborhood.
Smith wrote another $20,000 in grant-related checks to K.D. Contractors, a construction company that his wife, Karen D. Smith, created five months after work on the garden was supposed to have begun, records show.
If the ‘garden was never built’….and most of it shows up in another person’s hands….it’s called STEALING not ‘misspending’….you pathetic dolts. Is everyone in the Main Stream Media incapable of using clear language when criticizing Barack Obama?
Of course, they are incapable….look at their history. (And look at this small little FYI…)
In 1992, nine of the White House correspondents surveyed voted for Democrat Bill Clinton, two for Republican George H. W. Bush, and one for independent Ross Perot.
In 1988, 12 voted for Democrat Michael Dukakis, one for Bush.
In 1984, 10 voted for Democrat Walter Mondale, zero for Ronald Reagan.
In 1980, eight voted for Democrat Jimmy Carter, four for liberal independent John Anderson, and two voted for Ronald Reagan.
In 1976, 11 voted for Carter, two for Republican Gerald Ford.
I strongly suspect the shirt sleeve of the next President of the United States…will have the monogram BHO. Then watch the MSM throw a real garden party.

This is too cool for school!
Swiss pilot Yves Rossy is set to cross the English Channel strapped to a homemade jet-propelled wing, organizers said Thursday.
Weather permitting, Rossy will leap from a plane more than 2,500 meters (2,700 yards) off the ground, fire up his jets and try to make the 35-kilometer (22-mile) from Calais in France to Dover in England in about 12 minutes, according to a statement put out by his organizers.
The carbon composite-wing weighs about 55 kilograms (121 pounds) when loaded with fuel, and carries four kerosene-burning jet turbines to keep him aloft. The wing has no steering devices — Rossy moves his body to control its movements.
Leaping out of a perfectly good airplane? Good luck buddy. You won’t be getting a second chance.

Newsflash. Al Gore and his merry band of green guttersnipes have been OUTED. And even better news….outed by your own liberal brothers- over at the UK Guardian!
Green idealists fail to make grade, says study
David Adam, environment correspondent
People who believe they have the greenest lifestyles can be seen as some of the main culprits behind global warming, says a team of researchers, who claim that many ideas about sustainable living are a myth.
But wait….there’s more.
According to the researchers, people who regularly recycle rubbish and save energy at home are also the most likely to take frequent long-haul flights abroad. The carbon emissions from such flights can swamp the green savings made at home, the researchers claim.
Heavens to Carbon Offsets– say it ain’t so!
Stewart Barr, of Exeter University, who led the research, said: “Green living is largely something of a myth. There is this middle class environmentalism where being green is part of the desired image. But another part of the desired image is to fly off skiing twice a year. And the carbon savings they make by not driving their kids to school will be obliterated by the pollution from their flights.”
Anyone with half a brain….has known about this dirty little kernel of truth for years. I’m just glad someone in the liberal press has ‘fessed up. Of course, this will have absolutely NO IMPACT on Al Gore’s flight plans or the use of electricity in his 10,000 sq. ft. Southern Mansion.
Just another Inconvenient Truth brought to you by the Goracle.

There’s the King and I….there’s the King of All Media…..and then there’s Larry King– the king of all idiots.
Before Ahmadinejad spoke to the U.N., he told CNN’s Larry King that he is willing to meet with presidential candidates Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama — even in front of the media — to discuss world issues and debate.
Yes. Larry King interviewed Ahmadine-jihad. Imagine Edward R. Murrow interviewing Adolph Hitler. There’s your APT comparison. What in the HELL IS WRONG with Larry King?
Asked whether he fears a U.S. attack, Ahmadinejad told King that attacking Iran would be the “worst thing the U.S. government can do … I think that in the United States, there are enough reasonable people, smart people, who would not allow the U.S. government to make such a big mistake.”
If it wasn’t for Jesse Jackson, Larry King would ALSO be the stupidest man in America. Naturally, King wanted to know what this poor misunderstood Iranian would do if….evil bad nasty awful terrible America were to attack his sweet innocent darling sovereign nation. With liberals, it’s never about anyone else’s despicable behavior, no….it’s always about us…why don’t you know?
We’re the great Satan!
In a blistering speech before the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blamed “a few bullying powers” for creating the world’s problems and said the “American empire in the world is reaching the end of its road.”
The treacherous Mahmoud may actually be right. He only has to look across the table at feckless Larry King, an American Quisling, to reach that conclusion.

Like that’s a surprise.
None-the-less, I started out reading a Washington Post article about an issue that separates John McCain from his running mate Sarah Palin- when all of a sudden – the author HIJACKS the entire subject. Yes. Apparently, the writer felt it important that she weigh in.
No one, including Gov. Sarah Palin, questions that Alaska’s climate is changing more rapidly than any other state’s. But her skepticism about the causes and what needs to be done to address the consequences stands in sharp contrast to the views of her running mate, Sen. John McCain, and place her to the right of the Bush administration and several other Republican governors.
Hmmm….sounds innocuous enough, huh? Yep, so they disagree on the reasons behind “climate change”. But then…out of the blue(not green)….like Al Gore at a McDonald’s drivethru…. we get this little Chicken McNugget:
Although Palin established a sub-cabinet to deal with climate change issues a year ago, she has focused on how to adapt to global warming rather than how to combat it, and she has publicly questioned scientists’ near-consensus that human activity plays a role in the rising temperatures.
‘Near consensus’? Where did you get that cockamamie idea? Certainly not from the THIRTY ONE THOUSAND scientists who disagree. And exactly- when- did you get to opine Ms. Eilperin? This article you wrote is NOT posted in the Op/Ed section.
When she established her climate sub-cabinet last September, she said in a news release that Alaskans “are already seeing the effects” of warming: “Coastal erosion, thawing permafrost, retreating sea ice and record forest fires affect our communities and our infrastructure.”
But when environmentalists urged the governor to include language attributing global warming to humans and suggested that the state set a target for limiting greenhouse gas emissions, Palin hedged.
And I’m glad she did. I’m relieved to see Sarah Palin understands the difference between industry CO2 emissions and sunspots and solar flares. Why is it…that liberals like Ms. Eilperin over at the Washington Post can’t remove themselves from the debate? Seriously, they just can’t help themselves…. it’s their nature. They must…and I do mean MUST…dictate the discourse.
Sit down and shut up and just….report.

Not only were scores of innocent people murdered and injured, but if you can believe this report, it could’ve been FAR worse.
Pakistan’s president, prime minister and other Cabinet members were supposed to have been at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad when a massive truck bomb detonated outside, killing 57 and injuring 266, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Monday.
The Speaker of the House, Fahmida Mirza, had planned the event for ministers, the president, their guests and various foreign dignitaries.
But at the last minute, President Asif Ali Zardari asked that the event be transferred to the Prime Minister’s compound, Malik told reporters during a handover service for Czech Ambassador Ivo Zdarek, who died in the blast.
British Airways temporarily suspended its flights to Islamabad Sunday as a result of the security situation, according to an airline spokeswoman who did not want to be named.
Can you imagine what would’ve happened? Are you kidding me? All of Pakistan would’ve gone into COMPLETE CHAOS.
No arrests have been made in connection with the attack. But Malik said suspicion is falling on militants in Pakistan‘s tribal regions. “I am not in a position to tell you who has done it, but (in) all the previous investigations, all the roads have gone to South Waziristan,” he said Sunday.
South Waziristan is one of seven agencies of Pakistan’s tribal areas where Taliban and al Qaeda militants are active.
The poison in this area of the world is not only incomprehensible- but unending.
