Henry Hyde: A Great Man

Posted by Mark on November 30, 2007

Jonathon Turley has this commentary about Mr. Hyde. I met the man once, at a Republican fundraiser. He was one of those men who was “present” when talking to you. For that brief period, he and I were the only ones in the room. He will be missed.

Can’t Run Can’t Hide

Posted by Mark on November 29, 2007

When I moved from California to Florida in August, I was HOPING (…okay- so more like WISHING…) the illegal immigration problem would be substantially less. Well…..uh…I would be wrong.

About 30 percent of the nearly 3.5 million immigrants living in Florida are in the country illegally, the Center for Immigration Studies said in a report released today.

Based on “the latest data collected by the Census Bureau,” the report said that the state has one of the fastest-growing immigrant populations. It said that 29 percent of the state’s foreign-born population – slightly more than 1 million people – are illegal immigrants.

I recognize that I was living in a dream world. Where reality was suspended and Ozzie and Harriet were my next door neighbors. And even though the Cleavers have now been replaced by a family of 10 illegal aliens– my little world could, would, or should somehow remain in tack. But….no.

Falso- mi amigo!

The Lights You See In the City of Lights- Uh…That’s FIRE

Posted by Mark on November 28, 2007

So the City of Lights is burning….AGAIN. Yah…seems those French ‘youths’ are on the rampage….renewing their love of arson and mayhem.

This time around, the violence came faster and more furiously than in 2005.

During 200 nights of clashes between ghetto youth and riot police that year, there was only one death and sporadic injuries. But after only two nights of confrontations this week, 80 police officers were hospitalized, including six who were seriously injured when rioters assaulted them with stones, gas bombs and firecrackers.

At least two dozen officers were hit by pellets fired from guns.”We’re not talking about urban violence anymore, we’re talking about insurrection,” says Patrice Ribeiro, head of the police union Synergie Officers. “It’s more violent than in 2005. . . . We have armed people shooting at police. We knew it was going to happen and it happened.”

Ghetto YOUTH? Uh…no…make that Ghetto MUSLIMS. Let’s quit with the ‘disaffected youths’ and the ‘displaced youths’ or the ‘disenfranchised’ or the- pick a @$%ing pseudo-erudite term!

They are criminals.

They are thugs….but most of all, they are MUSLIM punks. And the liberal press CONTINUES to obfuscate. (Note my earlier post from last year.) VIOLENT Muslims. Crazy young Muslims. Vicious disturbed Muslims.

Uh.…got it?

Faith Blogging

Posted by Mark on November 27, 2007

Good article on faith bloggers across all denominations.  Misses the boat by painting all faith bloggers as “contentious.”

For a more balanced list of faith bloggers, take a look at Hugh Hewitt’s list under God Blogging.

I would draw particular attention to Mark D. Roberts.

Archbishop of Can’t You Bury Your Head Part II

Posted by Mark on November 27, 2007

What does it mean to be Anglican?
J.I. Packer gives a lucid and profound answer.

The Episcopal Church in the USA and Canada has a very different answer to this question.

The Archbishop of Canterbury (traditional “head” of the Anglican Communion) finds himself caught in the middle, watching the communion split while he waxes poetic about “western modernity.”

Gorebal Cooling

Posted by Mark on November 27, 2007

SO the latest satellite data shows earth has taken a nasty turn for the worse. Um…worse at least for Gorebal Warming advocates. This from the UK Times:

Christopher Booker: Planet-saving madness

The scare over global warming, and our politicians’ response to it, is becoming ever more bizarre. On the one hand we have the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change coming up with yet another of its notoriously politicised reports, hyping up the scare by claiming that world surface temperatures have been higher in 11 of the past 12 years (1995-2006) than ever previously recorded.

This carefully ignores the latest US satellite figures showing temperatures having fallen since 1998, declining in 2007 to a 1983 level – not to mention the newly revised figures for US surface temperatures showing that the 1930s had four of the 10 warmest years of the past century, with the hottest year of all being not 1998, as was previously claimed, but 1934.

Hmmm…seems we have an INCONVENIENT TRUTH here. Heavens to glacial ice packs- the earth may be cooling!

Shifting the Attack: Now It’s the Political Leaders Who Are Failing

Posted by Mark on November 26, 2007

Watched the Sunday Morning Talk Shows this week. The Defeatocrats can no longer deny the success of the military in Iraq, so they have moved to attacking the Iraqi government.

But, as Dennis Byrne points out, it’s a tough sell considering the goings-on here in the People’s Republic of Illinois, controlled completely by Defeatocrats:

For all of the Iraqi parliament’s flaws, I would trade it straight up for the crowd that we’ve got in Springfield. Ridiculous, you say? Then, consider what both have accomplished. First, the Illinois state government: (This space left intentionally blank.)

That’s right, nothing. Maybe the Iraq parliament hasn’t done much more but think about its challenges compared with Illinois’ crew. Iraq has to repair centuries of tyranny and brutalization. The country is split in three, marked by a centuries-long and sometimes bloody religious feud. With virtually no experience with self-government, the Iraqis are expected to come up instantly with a government and culture that respects democratic values.

The same could be said for the Congress of the United States today. What do both the Illinois Statehouse and the US Congress have in common? Both are controlled by defeatocrats.

Archbishop of Can’t You Bury Your Head

Posted by Mark on November 26, 2007

What was once a wonderful Christian apostolic Church, that historic episcopate of conservative tradition, thought and practice, has become a bastion of liberal lunacy. And now the Archbishop has opened his big fat pretentious mouth.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has said that the United States wields its power in a way that is worse than Britain during its imperial heyday. Rowan Williams claimed that America’s attempt to intervene overseas by “clearing the decks” with a “quick burst of violent action” had led to “the worst of all worlds”.

In a wide-ranging interview with a British Muslim magazine, the Anglican leader linked criticism of the United States to one of his most pessimistic declarations about the state of western civilisation.

He said the crisis was caused not just by America’s actions but also by its misguided sense of its own mission. He poured scorn on the “chosen nation myth of America, meaning that what happens in America is very much at the heart of God’s purpose for humanity”.

Williams went beyond his previous critique of the conduct of the war on terror, saying the United States had lost the moral high ground since September 11. He urged it to launch a “generous and intelligent programme of aid directed to the societies that have been ravaged; a check on the economic exploitation of defeated territories; a demilitarisation of their presence”.

He went on to suggest that the West was fundamentally adrift: “Our modern western definition of humanity is clearly not working very well. There is something about western modernity which really does eat away at the soul.”

SAY WHAT?

Well Father Stupid…there’s something about your moonbat mouth that… really does eat at me! Why don’t you shut your pseudo-pious piehole and go put on your self-righteous alb.

This is the same Church that has condemned Israel and cast their support to the Palistinians. Now they choose to castigate, incriminate, and pontificate on how horrible we are while COMPLETELY ignoring the root problem.

In the interview in Emel, a Muslim lifestyle magazine, Williams makes only mild criticisms of the Islamic world. He said the Muslim world must acknowledge that its “political solutions were not the most impressive”.

Yep- A MUSLIM LIFESTYLE magazine. Uh….here’s a religious NEWSFLASH- I’ll take the Christian lifestyle over the Muslim lifestyle any day, you pompous pandering priest.
