New Oxymoron: U.N. Prosecution

Posted by Mark on May 31, 2007

Hard to believe, but it’s true. The United Nations will attempt to prosecute those who are suspected of assassinating former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri.

A sharply divided U.N. Security Council voted Wednesday to create an international criminal tribunal to prosecute the masterminds of the February 2005 suicide bombing that killed former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri and 22 others.

The vote will lead to the creation of the first U.N.-backed criminal tribunal in the Middle East, raising expectations that Hariri’s killers will be held accountable.

Held accountable?

Pardon me for a moment- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH!!!

Ah…I feel better. This may go down as the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard of- since….well since, the BURQINI. The U.N. couldn’t prosecute a co-worker at a Congolese pedophile convention much less a couple of vicious murderers from the Middle East.

And oh yah…let me remind everyone….the United States provides 21% of the annual U.N. operating budget- gotta love that…..when you care enough to give the very best!

And As the World Spirals…

Posted by Mark on May 30, 2007

…I’ve discovered online Poker. Specifically, Full Tilt Poker.com. Having spent the weekend in bed with pneumonia, I’ve found the only shows on TV worth watching were nature shows (Sorry, there is only so much insect mating I can watch in one weekend) and lots and lots of poker. So, I’ve become a member of Full Tilt Poker. So far, only using play money, but eventually…(insert evil laughter here.)

My New Cause Celeb. Healthcare.

Posted by zaphriel on May 30, 2007

I’ll just point this one out to start.

Moore’s Myths

These myths about the uninsured are unjustified. We know how many Americans overall were satisfied with their medical care. But what about just the uninsured? How badly were they suffering? At my request, Kaiser did provide some additional statistics from the survey.

Only 2 percent of Americans are both uninsured and “very dissatisfied” with “the quality of the health care that [they] receive.” Another 2 percent were both uninsured and “somewhat dissatisfied.”

Myths aside, the vast majority of the uninsured were not only getting medical care, they were actually satisfied with their health care.

I’m Not Surprised You’re Surprised

Posted by Mark on May 30, 2007

The level of stupidity inside the Republican Party has reached new heights. Yah. Apparently, a number of GOP Senators are ‘surprised’ at the INTENSE negative reaction from their constituents at the lamest of lame immigration bill now before Congress.

In his speech Tuesday on immigration reform, President Bush was trying to provide political cover for members of Congress to support the legislation. That could be tough. Republicans are getting an earful on immigration. “I have learned some new words from some of my constituents,” Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Arizona, said.

The angry response comes as a shock. “The level of intensity and volume is, I think, surprising,” CNN contributor and radio talk show host Bill Bennett said. “We’ve talked to a number of Republican senators, and they confessed to being surprised by the reaction.” There’s a big difference in intensity. Among those who favor a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, 28 percent say the issue is extremely important to them, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll.

Those who oppose a path to citizenship feel much more strongly about the issue. Forty-seven percent say it’s extremely important.

Is this not a CLEAR indication of the complete DISCONNECT Republicans have with their conservative members? Uh…..yah John McCain, George Bush…..Lindsey ‘you miserable cur’ Graham- it is.

The Perfect Example of Liberalism vs. Reality

Posted by Mark on May 29, 2007

I had to chuckle. Okay…so it bordered on-UNINTERRUPTED peals of laughter. Seems, the LA Times was revisiting Haight-Ashbury. Oh yah! So…how are the hippies doing? The counter-culture? It’s been almost 40 years….how goes it?

From his second-floor apartment at the counterculture crossing of Haight and Ashbury streets, Arthur Evans watches a new generation of wayward youth invade his free-spirited neighborhood. The former flower child was among the legions of idealistic wanderers who migrated here during the Vietnam War to “tune in, turn on and drop out.”

But Evans, who has lived at the same address for 34 years, says he has never seen anything like this crowd, who use his flower bed as a bathroom and sell pot outside his window. They’re known as gutter punks, these homeless kids with dirty dreadlocks and nose rings, lime-green mohawks and orange spray-painted faces, who panhandle with cardboard signs that riff on their lifestyles. “Please Help Us Get Un-Sober,” one reads. Another: “Please Give Us Weed, Beer or Money.”

Sometimes aggressive, they block sidewalks as they strum guitars or bang on bongos. Gangs of them skateboard down the middle of Haight Street. Some throw used hypodermic needles into a nearby pond they call Hep-C Lake. Evans, 64, says they should get help, clean up or go home.”I used to be a hippie. I wore beads and grew my hair long,” he said.

“But my generation had something these kids do not: a standard of civilized behavior.”

I mean…COME ON…is that rich? The hippies of the 60’s could ‘tune in, turn on and drop out’….claiming they were doing it in a CIVILIZED MANNER??

What a bunch of happy horse****.

Remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for each of us. Remember our soldiers. And remember WHY we are the strongest nation on earth.

It was no accident.

You Better Sit Down for This Post

Posted by Mark on May 27, 2007

Please be seated. For this exercise, you need to keep your eyeglasses nearby for the headline…and your blood pressure medicine close by for the remainder:

Dartmouth alumni elect conservatives to trustee board

On the surface…the headline gives you the impression, conservatives are making a comeback. And indeed they are….but of course CNN.compost.-being well, CNN.compost– the headline is the beginning and the ending of any fair reporting:

For two decades, Dartmouth College has tried to rein in rowdy fraternities — such as the one that inspired the movie “Animal House” — and make the campus more welcoming to women, minorities and scholars.

Now, some alumni who appreciated the old Dartmouth are pushing back. Football, fraternities, opposition to codes regulating hate speech and a fresh focus on teaching undergraduates top their agenda.

They just can’t help themselves. Liberals CAN NOT and WILL NOT report something without using words that fit THEIR agenda.

Yep…in this post, we learn that electing a conservative makes Dartmouth against minorities, women, and scholars and FOR hate speech.

Unbelievable.

Ronald Reagan Diaries

Posted by Mark on May 25, 2007

My brother and I decided to go to the Ronald Reagan library the other day. Our visit couldn’t have been more timely….as luck would have it, the library was releasing President Reagan’s much anticipated diary.

When we arrived, there were TV crews everywhere capturing this historic release. Even more startling….as we moved through the exhibits, Nancy Reagan was on TV monitors everywhere-reading Reagan’s personal diary.

When it became known that as president Reagan had written a personal diary in his own hand, bound in leather with the presidential seal on the cover, the sale of the rights to “The Reagan Diaries”, (HarperCollins, 784 pages, $35) became a publishing sensation. At last we would discover the innermost thoughts of a man whose intense reserve had shut out his colleagues, his official biographer, his two wives, and even his children.

His library is nestled in the beautiful hills of Simi Valley, California. If you ever get the chance, GO! The library is impressive with a vast display of Ronald Reagan history- including the U.S. Air Force One airplane that served as his airborne White House during his administration and a replica of his Oval Office.

Take the family and spend an afternoon there. It makes you proud to be an American. Something moonbats wouldn’t know if it smacked ’em between the eyes.

Mother and Brother In the House

Posted by Mark on May 20, 2007

My wonderful mother and brother are here visiting me in Los Angeles for the week. And to mark this occasion, I am taking a MUCH NEEDED vacation. So, my blogging will be spotty….for you liberals and social demo-bats who only read the NY Times- the word is ‘intermittent’.

I suspect my mother and brother and I will have many a spirited political discussion. My mother’s a softy…she votes for the person, not the party or ideology. (She bought into the Clinton b.s.) My brother is a Republican, but he puts up with their pandering to liberals.

Salute!

Conservatives Have Left the Building

Posted by Mark on May 18, 2007

Of late, I find myself wanting to cuss like a sailor. What’s driven me to this, is the Republican Party. The Republicans have no spine…(see: INVERTEBRATE). I’m sick of most everyone of them. Outside of Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, and a few others- there’s not a conservative in sight. And now this:

After months of painstaking negotiations, a bipartisan group of senators forged an agreement Thursday on a bill that would allow most illegal immigrants now in the country to become citizens; reshape how legal immigrants are admitted; and create security measures that eventually would require all U.S. workers to prove their legal status.

The plan to legalize most of the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal immigrants and to create a temporary-worker program would not start until steps were completed to strengthen border security and workplace enforcement.

Amnesty, yes. Wiping the slate clean. They broke the law and now we will give them a free ride. Back up the SOCIAL BENEFITS BUS. Hop in…..enjoy your free ride.

Invertebrates, everyone of them.
