Bank of Illegal Aliens

Posted by Mark on March 7, 2007

Otherwise known as Bank of (Latin) America.

I’ve had checking accounts, savings accounts, charge cards, and home loans with them. Well Rockefeller…not anymore. Today, I began the process of ending that relationship…..and yes the divorce will be final. Twenty one years ago, I came to California and started banking with B of A. Yesterday, I opened a checking account with World Savings Bank. Today, I change my automatic deposits to World Bank. The rest of the week, I’ll begin severing my other links. (pay off charge card, cut up ATM card, and transfer/close other balances.)

This wasn’t easy….I’ve been fuming and stewing about this for over a week.

Bank of America, the country’s second-largest bank, “has quietly begun offering credit cards to customers without Social Security numbers- typically illegal immigrants,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

Customers can qualify for a credit card if they have had a checking account at the bank for at least three months. They are required to leave a deposit and pay a relatively high interest rate, according to the paper.

The program is controversial. Bank of America says it will help undocumented workers build good credit.

Uh…no!…how about dispicable and ruthlessly calculating?

When I spoke to the World Bank representative….he said, they’ve noticed a spike in new business.

Imagine that?

If this isn’t scarey…

it’s just plain weird.

Key Quote…

A police bomb squad was called to examine what was deemed a suspicious item found during a body cavity search of the man. Local media reports said a magnet was found in his rectum.

“He was secreting these items in a body cavity and that was a great concern because there were also some electric wires associated with that body cavity,” Larry Fetters, security director for the Transportation Security Administration at the airport, told reporters.
