For Muslims Only

Posted by Mark on October 7, 2006

In our last episode….you may remember- Europe was continuing its steadfast MARCH towards appeasement. So this week’s new episode won’t disappoint you….better turn down your pacemaker– in the Netherlands- Muslims will be getting their own hospital.

Plans for a Muslim-only hospital in the Netherlands have sparked a heated debate over its separate all-male and all-female wings, halal food and roster of duty imams. A populist nationalist party described the plan for the clinic in south Rotterdam as “a step backwards to the Middle Ages.”

The sexes will be segregated, with male patients treated by an exclusively male nursing and medical staff and similar arrangements for female patients.

The Netherlands’ once proud multicultural model, which promoted tolerance of a rapidly growing immigrant population, has been questioned in recent years, especially after the slaying of filmmaker Theo van Gogh by an Islamist.

The latest dispute concerns plans for a private hospital aimed at the Netherlands’ 1 million Muslims.

All that is just MULTI-wonderful….and I’m all for making money…..BUT…. if I break my leg in front of the hospital and I have money, will I get Emergency treatment? What about a non-Muslim woman? Would she have to wear a chador or a burqa to get admitted? Better yet-…….an APOSTATE? (Oh my goodness…the calamities are endless!)

Somehow….I think not.

Forty Years of Star Trek

Posted by Mark on October 7, 2006

So, in the midst of the Foley Follies, North Korean nuke tests, an upcoming election, and Nancy Pelosi’s threats for the “First 100 Hours” of Dem control of the House, I’m taking valuable blog space to talk about the Star Trek auction. Why would I do that? Several reasons:
First, it’s my blog. I can do whatever I want with it. Well, mine and Matt’s and Craig’s, that is. But as the “esteemed founder” I can blog about anything I damn well please. Ah, power. What an aphrodisiac!

Second, I spent alot of time throughout my life watching Star Trek, reading Star Trek, playing Star Trek, and fantasizing Star Trek. (And I don’t just mean yeoman in mini-skirts, and Seven of Nine in a tight sweater…ummm, well, actually I do mean that. But there was other stuff too! I promise!) Ahem, where was I? Oh yeah!

Third, and most important: Star Trek has had more influence on our culture than any other television show of the past forty years. And this blog is about the culture of our September 12th world. Star Trek plays its part. So, go to Christie’s, and browse the catalog. And remember.
