A well known Judge was shot in Reno.

Police: Judge Shot in Nevada

RENO, Nev. — A family court judge was shot on Monday at the Washoe County courthouse on the edge of Reno’s downtown casino district, a police spokesman said.

A SWAT team was inside the building; police were searching for a possible sniper in the area.

“Right now I can’t give you the condition” of the judge, Steve Frady of the Reno Police Department said. “It’s still an unsafe situation.”

“We do believe a sniper shot a judge inside the courthouse,” Frady added. “We’re trying to locate where the shooting came from.”

Judge Chuck Weller was shot in the chest while he stood near a window on the third floor of the Mills B. Lane Justice Center about 11:15 a.m., police said.

Reno is a growing city with its problems, but we don’t normally have this type of thing happen.

My prayers are with Chuck and his family.
