A Big Day in Space
Posted by Mark on March 10, 2006
I’m not a big NASA fan. But there are days when I become one of NASA’s biggest cheerleaders. This is one of those days.
The Mars Reconnassaince Orbiter will go in to Mars orbit at 3:25 PM CST. Of 35 missions to Mars over the years, 21 have been failures. But if this one succeeds, it will bring a newlevel of detail and clarity to our understanding of Mars. The MRO will pave the way for manned landings on a new world.
Update: 6:35 PM CST
MRO is in a picture perfect orbit, ready to rock and roll.
And speaking of a new world, there are rumors that NASA will report even more information on the finding of water volcanoes on Saturn’s moon Enceladus. This announcement could heighten speculations of life in our Solar System.
And just one more: New satellite information on Mount Ararat reveals an “anomaly” that may be a ship. Or , like the Face on Mars, it may just be a funny looking rock. I happen to know a couple of satellite gurus, and would love their input after looking at the pictures. So, Matt and Craig, what do ya think?
